After awakening everything changed...
Everything written here regarding the first 6 months post-accident are stories reported by doctors and relatives of mine. At 5 in the morning on May 10, 2015 I took a ride home with the mother a friend of my friend's. At home I received a call. I went down to the porch of my building. We got out to talk. My ex-boyfriend drove the car. Suddenly my world has changed. I was rescued by SAMU who saved my life. I suffered an accident where I had a traumatic brain injury (LEA) with diffuse axonal injury. Double fracture of all ribs. Bilateral basin fracture. Incomplete fracture first cervical vertebra. If I’m here there must be a reason… I had to undergo emergency surgery at the General Sate Hospital and then was transferred to the Hospital Aliança ICU. I had to undergo neurosurgery to drain subdural hematoma. I stayed at Hospital Aliança until June 30, 2015 when I was still discharged home with the home care services still in a coma. At home, under intensive care, I woke up on the day of June 17th of 2015 and waking up from coma in real life isn´t like in movies…it was a restart. A restart of everything…I had to relearn everything. Everything. Even how to swollow, hold my neck, my trunk… coordinate my moves…feed myself…sit…balance myself.
